SPEIGHT DRILLING LTD
environmental investigation drilling
Environmental drilling is used to investigate, assess and monitor the quality of groundwater and soils and determine the source or extent of pollution problems. Obtaining accurate data is essential to evaluating our environment and for developing solutions to mitigate potential adverse effects.
water bores & ground water Exploration
Groundwater is essential for everyday life. Speight Drilling offer an extensive range of groundwater-related services to help investigate, test and developed sources to support hydrological assessments for aquifer delineation, drinking water supply (waterbores), dewatering requirements and geotechnical investigations.
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Piling forms the very basis of many construction projects. Ground anchors are a versatile form of ground support. Dewatering involves drawing-down (controlling) groundwater levels in excavations to allow construction works to proceed.
MINERAL EXPLORATION
Speight Drilling have a wide range of experience in mineral exploration drilling, specificaly across the West Coast, Central Otago and Macreas mining areas.
GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING
Obtaining high-quality, representative information is critical to understanding the potential interaction between built structures and the ground. Speight Drilling provide accurate and efficient drilling and testing solutions, enabling you to determine soil and rock characteristics for your project.
CPT TESTING
The main purpose of CPT (CPTU) testing is to identify subsurface conditions: classify soil, detect layers and measure strength, determine deformation characteristics and the permeability of foundation soils.
DEWATERING
Dewatering involves controlling ground water, by pumping water to lower ground water levels in the vicinity of the excavation. In order to construct a building, dewatering has to be done by laying pumps at various junctions.
DOWN HOLE LOGGING
We have our own suite of downhole geophysics tools and equipment, enabling us to obtain high resolution images of the borehole wales for an accurate assessment of in-situ conditions. Outputs from logging can include the 3D logs, structural rock data, high-resolution imagery and more.
BLASTING
Speight Drilling use a non-detonating chemical compound enclosed in a cartridge,
which reacts very quickly when ignited to produce high volumes of harmless gas, mainly consisting
of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and steam.
OFFAL AND SOAKAGE HOLES
Also referred to as dead holes, offal holes are commonly used on farms to dispose of dead stock, home kill waste and rubbish in a hygienic way or as a long-drop.
Similar to offal holes, soak holes are mostly used to dispose of wastewater. They were most common before stormwater systems were introduced and still provide a great alternative for those that don’t want to reuse their wastewater without causing too much harm to the environment.
